I am not talking about using Chrome Incognito window to get around The New York Times paywall.

You can continue to read all the articles without resorting to any one of those tricks to bypass its metered paywall.

Forget about installing all those browser extensions to your Google Chrome browser.

As we know the risks of installing browser extensions.

Both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome have cautioned their users.

Read New York Times free with Google Chrome

You just go to Google Chrome to set it up once and you can continue reading The New York Times without being blocked by its paywall.

You would never ever encounter its paywall reminder that reads:

"Keep reading The Times by creating a free account or logging in."

With this simple hack, you can read unlimited articles from The New York Times website.

This method still works with Google Chrome browser as of October 2023.

NOTE: It doesn't work with Firefox browser any more.

Basically you just stop NYTimes site from using cookies in Chrome.

Disable Cookies in Google Chrome

This is what you do:

1. Go to your Google Chrome browser.

2. Click on the three dots (Customize and control Google Chrome) and a box pops up.

3. Click on "Settings".

4. When you come to settings page, click on "Privacy and security".

5. Now click on "Cookies and other site data".

6. Scroll down to the last option "Sites that never use cookies".

7. Click "Add" button

8. A box pops up.

9. Type in: [*.]nytimes.com

10. Then click the blue color "Add" button.

You can see this bitten-off cookie and a red box with an X sign icon (meaning this page was prevented from setting cookies.) at the toolbar.

Now your Google Chrome will automatically bypass The New York Times website paywall.

You just do this once and you can keep reading The New York Times free with Google Chrome all the time.
