I have tried these following methods and they can get through NZ Herald premium paywall.
They all can work with Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.
1. Save to Pocket
You can use this social bookmarking service Pocket to bypass NZ Herald premium paywall.
It's easy to set up and use.
Sign up a free account, save the blocked articles, and you can read the them fully unblocked.

2. Archive Today
If the NZ Herald Premium article which you want to read which has already archived, it would prompt you that it is available.
You can read it right away. If not, then you have to load and archive the article.
Again this method works for both Firefox and Chrome browsers.
There are two key ways of using this Archive.Today tool to unblock New Zealand Herald Premium articles.
Archive.Today site
This is what you do:
Go to Archive.Today.
Paste the article URL in the space provided under "My url is alive and I want to archive its content".
Next click the "save" button.
If the article which has already archived, the full content is right there and you can read it right away.
If not, you need to archive it, then only you can view the complete article.
Archive.Today extension
For convenience, you can install the Archive.Today extension to your browser.
Then you can read the Premium articles directly from the NZ Herald homepage.

After installing it, pin the Archive.Today extension to the toolbar.
You can see its icon, a blue globe and a yellow share symbol on the browser toolbar.
There are three ways to use the Archive.Today extension to unblockThe NZ Herald Premium articles.
Right click article title
If the Premium article which you want to read is from the NZ Herald homepage or from the search engine results pages, this is what you do:
Right click the article title.
The context menu box pops up, move your mouse cursor from "Archive" to "Archive link" and "Search link".
Click any of these two options.
When you click the "Archive link", and if the article is already archived, you can read it right away.
If not, then automatically it will start loading to archive it for you.
When you click the "Search link", and if the article is already archived, you can see it right there.
But if the article is still not archived, it says "No results".
You have to click the hyperlink "archive this url", then click the "save" button.
Then wait for it to archive it.
Click Archive.Today icon
Click the Premium article which you want to read,
As it is, it is blocked by its paywall.
Ignore it, instead click the Archive.Today icon at the toolbar.
It takes you to the Archive Today site.If the article has already archived, then you can see it right there.
If not, then you have to load and archive it.
Right click article text
At the blocked article, right click anywhere on the text area, a context menu box pops up.
Then click "Search archive.today for page".
Similarly it goes to the Archive Today site.
Again if the page have already been archived, you can see the full article right there.
If not, then you have to archive it, before you can read it.
Mozilla Firefox Browser:
Unfortunately Firefox has removed the Archive.Today extension.
But you can use the similar One-Click Archive.Today extension.
Similarly, you download and install it to your Firefox.
Then pin it to the Firefox toolbar.
The One-Click Archive.Today extension icon looks like this.
To use this extension, go the NZ Herald Premium article.Then click the icon, instantly the full article will appear.
3. Bypass Paywalls Clean extension
You can also this popular browser extension to view NZ Herald Premium articles.
Just install it, and you can get through not only NZ Herald paywall, but many other media sites as well.

4. Textise
Use the text-only and accessibility tools Textise to get read all the premium articles.
You can view the full text article, but no picture or image.
Textise is an Internet tool that can create a text only version of almost any web page.
This is what you do:
Go to Textise site.
Copy the blocked article URL and paste it in the box provided.
Click the "Textise" button.
Immediately the full NZ Herald Premium article appears, but without any picture.
To view the article, you need to scroll it down.
5. uBlock Origin
You can use the wide-spectrum blocker uBlock Origin to read NZ Herald Premium articles too.
First you install uBlock Origin extension.
For Firefox browser, go to this site, and click the "Add to Firefox" button .
For Chrome browser, go to this site, and click the "Add to Chrome" button.
Follow the instructions and install uBlock Origin to your browser.
Make sure it is pinned to the toolbar, where you can this icon.
Click this small uBlock Origin icon at the toolbar.
A box pops up, click the three cog wheels at the bottom right hand corner.
It opens the dashboard page, click "Filter lists" tab.
Scroll all the way down until "> Import".
Click it, instantly a box appears below.
Type this line inside the box:

Then go up and click "Apply changes" button.
You can see "Anti-paywall filters" listed under Custom.
Now you can read all the NZ Herald Premium articles you want.
In fact, with this antipaywall filter, now you can access many other blocked media websites.
