There are many blog posts and tutorials on YouTube, teaching you how to add subtitles to movie videos permanently.
I know many of you are disappointed to find out that some of these tutorials are confusing or/and useless.
By the way you DO NOT need to use Winxvideo AI tool to hardcode subtitles.
To hardcode subtitles means permanently embedding them into the video file.
Let me show you a simple and workable way to embed subtitles permanently to videos or movies.
I have used this method for all my download videos all this time and it works perfectly.
Look at the date of this post, it was published way back in the year 2020!
Besides having your video file and the subtitles file on your computer, first you need to download a free tool called MKVToolNix GUI.
This software will help you to add or mix the video and the subtitles together easily.
There are two key steps.

STEP #1: Install MKVToolNix
First download the free tool called MKVToolNix.
Click here or here to download and install it onto your PC.
After you have successfully installed it, click MKVToolNix GUI.
Immediately you will see the MKVToolNix GUI interface. (see visual below)
STEP #2: How to add subtitles
First, click "Add source files" button which is at the bottom of the interface.
A box will pop up.
Select the video/movie file and click it.
Then click the "Open" button.
Instantly you can see two rows of information about the audio and video. (see visual below)
Next you click the "Add source files" button again.
This time, you select the subtitles file.
Click the subtitles file.
Then click the "Open" button.
Again instantly you can see a row of information of the subtitles right below the audio and video file details.
Now there are three rows of information. (See visual below)
Then you need to select where you want to save this newly created file.Click the icon next to "Destination file". (see visual below)
A box pops up. If you want to change the place where you want to save your newly-created file, you can delete away the details at "Destination file:".
Then select where you want to save the file. (Desktop, Libraries, etc.)
Click your option.
Type a name of the movie video in the box next to "File name:". (see visual below)
Click the "Save" button.
Finally click the "Start multiplexing" button below.
You can see the small start icon (triangle inside a circle) drifting left towards the "Job output" icon.
Click the "Job output" icon and you can see the green color band lengthening.
It is multiplexing in process.
In other words, the tool is embedding the subtitles to the movie clip.
When the embedding process completes, it indicates "100%" next to the green color band.
Once it is successfully embedded, you can close the MKVToolNix GUI interface.
Now you can the movie thumbnail together with the small sized VLC orange color cone logo.
Click it and now you can watch the movie together with the embedded subtitles.
