How to bypass Chicago Tribune paywall to read articles for free

Add cache: in front of the article URL.

For example the URL of the article is:

After adding cache: in front of it, and it looks like this:

cache:https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/09/12/review-the-roommate-on-broadway-has-stars-much-bigger-than-this-story/

Press the "Enter" key, and it would take you to the Google cached page.

Now you can read the complete unblocked article "Review: ‘The Roommate’ on Broadway has stars much bigger than this story'’.


3. Disable JavaScript

This is the most common way to get past paywalls of various media websites.

4. JavaScript Bookmarklet

This is what you do:

Copy the code below and bookmark it to your browser.

For convenience, save it at the bookmark bar.

When you are the blocked Chicago Tribune article, click the JavaScript bookmarklet. 

It redirects to a Google search of that article.

Click the "Preview" button, and the full article appears. 


7. Shackle-free

Just like PrintFriendly, paste the article URL, and click to get the full article.

Go Shackle-free site, paste the article URL in the space provided.

Click the "Read" button and the complete article appears.  


8. Google Translate 

It is a simple way to bypass Chicago Tribune paywall.

Paste the article URL and click translate.
