Now, let's check how to to get around wired.com paywall with these latest updated methods, which work for both browsers: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.


MOZILLA FIREFOX BROWSER:

1. Clear browser cookies

1. When you come to the blocked article, you move your mouse cursor to "History" at the menu bar at the top of your computer screen.

2. Then click on "Clear Recent History..."

NOTE: Make sure the "Cookies" and "Cache" under "History" are checked (with a tick in the box).

3. Click on "Clear Now" button.

4. Then click on the "Reload current page" icon on the address bar. (Next to Firefox Home Page icon)

5. It will reload the blocked page.

6. Now you can read the full Wired site article without the subscription pop-up box.

In short, you clear the browser cookies and then reload the blocked page.


2. Bypass paywalls extension

For this method, you install the free Bypass Paywalls Firefox extension onto your Firefox browser.

This is what you do:

1. Click here to install the Bypass Paywalls extension for Firefox.

2. A box pops up and it will download straight to your browser.

3. Click on the blue color "Continue to Installation" button.

4. Then another box pops up, click on the blue color "Add" button. 

5. The bypass paywall extension will be installed to your Firefox browser right away.

6. You can see the Bypass Paywalls extension icon on the Firefox toolbar, as shown below.

7. When you go to the Wired website homepage, there will be a blue color box with the word "ON" on top of the icon.

8. Now you can read all available articles of Wired site, without the subscription box blocking you.


3. Firefox temporary containers extension

This one is similar to the second method.

You need to install the Firefox extension called "Temporary Container".

This is what you do:

1. First install the Firefox Temporary Container extension.

2. Right click on any article title that you want to read.

3. A menu pops up next to the article title.

4. Move your mouse cursor to the "Open link in new Temporary Container tab".

5. Click on it.

6. It will open a new tab with the full article which you have selected.

To read the next article, again you right click on the article title.

Then click on "Open link in new Temporary Container tab".


4. Archive.Today

This is another simple way to bypass Wired.com site paywall.

You use the free archiving site Archive.today, which stores snapshots of web pages.

If the article which you want to read has already archived, it would prompt you that it is available.

You can read it right away. 

If not, then you have to archive the article.

There are two ways of using Archive.Today to unlock Wired website paywall.

Use Archive.Today site

This is what you need to do:

1. Go to Archive.Today.

2. Paste the article URL in the space provided under "My url is alive and I want to archive its content."

3. Next click the "save" button.

4. If the article has been archived, you can see it right there.

5. If not, then it says "No results", and you have to archive it, before you can view the complete article.

Use Archive Today extension

For ease of use, you can install Archive.Today extension to your Firefox or Chrome browser.

For Firefox browser, click here.

After you have installed and pinned the extension to the toolbar, you can see its small icon (blue globe with the yellow share symbol).

Here are three (3) ways how to use Archive Today extension to unlock Wired website paywall.

Click on Archive.Today icon

1. Click on the article which you want to read.

2. As it is the article is blocked by its paywall. 

3. Ignore it, instead you click on the Archive Today icon at the toolbar.

4. It will go to the Archive Today site.

5. If the article has already archived, then you can read it right away.

6. If not, then you have to archive it.

1. When you are at the blocked page, right click anywhere on the text area, a context menu box pops up. 

2. Then click on "Search archive.today for page".

3. Similarly it will take you to the Archive Today site.

4. Again, if the page have already been archived, you can read it on the spot.

5. If it is still not archived, then archive it, then only you can see the article there.

1. The third way is when you are at the Wired homepage or from the search engine results pages.

2. Right click on the article title.

3. The context menu box pops up, move your mouse cursor from "Archive" to "Archive link" and "Search link".

4. Click on it any of the two options.

5. When you click on the "Archive link", and if the article is already archived, you can read it right away.

6. If not, then automatically it will start loading to archive it for you.

7. When you click on the "Search link", and if the article is already archived, you can see it right there.

8. But if the article is still not archived, it says "No results".

9. You have to click on the hyperlink "archive this url", then click the "save" button. 

10. Then wait for it to archive it.


5. Open link in new private window

1. Go to the Wired homepage on your Firefox browser.

2. To read the free article, right click on the article title.

3. A context menu drops down, then click on “Open Link in Private Window“.

4. It will open the article in a new window.

NOTE: Two things you must remember.

1. To read the next article, DO NOT click it from this newly “Open Link in Private Window” tab or page.

You need to go back to the Wired Magazine website homepage to get your new article.

2. Secondly, before you open the new article, you must close the earlier one.

In other words, you can only open ONE article in the Private Window at a time.

If not, it cannot bypass its paywall.


6. Saved to Pocket

This method you use the free social bookmarking service called Pocket by Mozilla Corporation.

It is easy to use the Pocket to bypass Wired website paywall.

You save the blocked article to your Pocket account.

From there you can read the full unblocked article.

First you need to sign up an account to use this free service.

You can sign up Pocket account from here.

For Firefox, the Pocket tool is already included into the browser.

You can see its gray color icon (pocket with the letter V) at the right hand corner of the toolbar.

How to save and read Wired article from the Pocket

First you need to log in to your Pocket account. 

There are three (3) ways to save the blocked Wired.com articles to your Pocket account.

I just show you one way of doing it.

Right click on article title

1. Go to the article that you want to read, and right click on its title.

2. A context menu box pops up, click on "Save Page to Pocket".

3. A box pops up at the Pocket icon at the toolbar, and the icon changes to red color.

4. Click on "View My Saves" button.

5. It will lead you to "Saves" of your Pocket account.

6. Here you can see the article title with its accompanied image.

7. To read the article, click on either the article title or the accompanied image.

8. Now you can view the full unblocked Wired.com article there.

NOTE: Do not click on the "View Original" link. It will go back to the blocked article.

9. After reading it, to get rid of the article from the Saves list, click on the dustbin icon above the article.

Similarly, you can go back to Saves, to click on the three dots below the saved article, then click "Delete".

How To Read Wired For Free


GOOGLE CHROME BROWSER:

1. Clear browser cookies

The procedure is similar to the Firefox browser tutorial above.

When you come to the blocked Wired article, clear the browsing history. 

This is what you do:

1. Click on the tiny three dots (Customize and control Google Chrome) at the top right hand corner, and the context menu pops up.

2. Place your mouse cursor over "More tools", then move it over to "Clear browsing data...".

3. Next click on "Clear browsing data".

4. A box pops up.

NOTE: Make sure the "Cookies and other site data" is checked (with a tick inside the box by clicking on it).

5. Click on the "Clear data" button.

6. Now go back to the blocked article and reload the page.

The trick is when you come to the blocked Wired.com article, just clear the browser cookies.


2. Bypass paywalls extension

This method is similar to what I have explained above for the Firefox browser.

3. Archive.Today

The method is the totally the same as what I have shown you above for Firefox browser.

4. Open link in incognito window

It is similar to the fifth method for Firefox as shown above.

1. Open the Wired magazine website homepage with your Chrome browser.

2. Right click on the article title.

3. A context menu drops down, then click on “Open Link in Incognito Window“.

4. It will open the article in a new window.

5. To read the next free article, you need to go back to the Wired.com homepage.

6. Again, right click on the article title, then click on “Open Link in Incognito Window“.

7. Remember DO NOT open the article directly from the Incognito window, as it does not work.

8. Unlike Firefox, you can open more than one window at a time, and it can still work.


5. Saved to Pocket

For Google Chrome browser, you need to install the Pocket extension.

There are two ways to view the saved free Wired articles in your Pocket account.

1. First you need to install the Pocket extension to your Chrome browser.

2. Click here to install the Pocket extension.

3. Next pin the Pocket extension onto the toolbar.

4. To do that, click on the Chrome extensions icon (gray color puzzle piece) at the toolbar, which is at the top right hand corner of the computer screen.

5. A context menu pops up.

6. Click on the gray color thumb tack icon next to "Save to Pocket".

7. The thumb tack icon will change to blue color and at the same time, red outlined Pocket icon (a pocket with the letter V) appears at the toolbar.

8. Now you have pinned the Pocket extension onto the Chrome toolbar.

How to read Wired.com articles

Click on Pocket icon

1. When you are at the blocked article, click on the red outlined Pocket icon at the top right hand corner of the page.

2. The red outlined Pocket icon turns to full red color, except with the white V outline, and at the same time a box pops up below.

3. Inside the box is the article title together with its accompanied image.

4. Click on "Saves" at the bottom left hand corner.

5. It takes you to your Pocket account, where you can see the article title together with its illustration/image.

7. Now you can view the full free Wired magazine website article.

8. After reading it, remove the article from your Saves list, by clicking on the dustbin icon above the article.
