There are two methods of turning off JavaScript of Brave browser.
METHOD #1: Disable at Brave browser icon
When you are at a paywalled article, click the Brave browser icon (lion head) at the toolbar.
A box pops up, click the toggle switch of "Block scripts" setting.
The round shape of the toggle switch should turn to blue color, together with the number scripts blocked on a webpage.
It means Brave browser is blocking the JavaScript of that particular webpage.
METHOD #2: Disable at Brave browser settings
When you come to the blocked article, click the three parallel horizontal lines (aka Hamburger button) at the top right hand corner.
A menu drops down, click "Settings".
Click "Shields" on the left side of the page.
Next click "Block scripts" toggle switch, to change it to blue color.
