How To Install Archive Page Extension To Chrome Browser

Find out how to install Archive Page extension to Chrome with this quick tutorial.

Due to its removal from the Chrome Web Store on March 13, 2025, you can no longer install the Archive Page extension directly from there. 

However, you can still manually download and install the Archive Page aka Archive.Today extension through the Chrome-Stats website. 

You need to have a free account with Chrome-Stats.

What Is Archive.Today?

Archive.Today is a web archiving tool designed to capture and permanently store snapshots of webpages, even if the original page is modified or taken down. 

Many users also rely on this tool to bypass paywalls across various websites.

Follow this step-by-step tutorial on how to download and install the extension in your Chrome browser.

1. Visit The Archive Page Download Site


2. Download The ZIP File

  • Click the "Download ZIP file" button to begin the download.
  • A prompt will appear asking you to sign in or sign up for a free Chrome-Stats account if you haven't already.

3. Sign In To Your Chrome-Stats Account

  • Sign into your account or create a new one.
  • Once logged in, you'll receive a verification email. 
  • Open your email inbox, copy the verification code, and paste it into the prompt that appears on the website.
  • Click the "Sign in" button to complete the verification process.

4. Download The Extension

  • After successfully signing in, click the "Download ZIP file" button again.
  • The page will refresh, and the button will change to "Download now". Click it to start the download.

  • A dialog box will appear asking you to choose a location to save the ZIP file. Choose a folder and save the file.

5. Extract The ZIP File

  • Locate the ZIP file you just downloaded. 
  • This will create a new folder next to the ZIP file containing the Archive Page extension files.

  • Right click it, a context menu appears, and click "Extract to "gcaimhkfmliahedmeklebabdgapipbia\".

6. Enable Developer Mode In Chrome

  • Open a new tab in Chrome and go to chrome://extensions.
  • Enable Developer mode by toggling the switch in the top right corner.

7. Load The Extension

  • Click on the "Load unpacked" button.

  • Click "Select Folder" to install the extension.

8. Pin The Extension To Your Toolbar

  • After installation, you should see the Archive.Tday extension icon in the upper-right corner of your browser (next to the address bar).
  • Click the jigsaw puzzle piece icon, locate Archive.Tday in the list, and click the pin icon to keep it visible on the toolbar.
  •  This is the Archive Page icon.
