Of course there are other ways to bypass blocked websites in your country.
That include, via VPN (virtual private network), Firefox Addon (anonymoX), Tor Project, or proxy servers.
As I have just mentioned above, I am going to share with you how to use Firefox proxy server to get around blocked sites on Firefox.
Before I go into the details, let me forewarned you:
Each time when you use this free Firefox proxy server to access blocked sites, it can be a challenging task, or it could be an extreme exasperation for some of you.
Firstly, not all the free IP addresses will work.
Then you get this warning: "Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network" from Google.
Next you need to bypass the bothersome CAPTCHA security check.
Unfortunately, at any time you may encounter this situation. where it shows a white screen with the remark:
"The proxy server is refusing connections."
Or, while watching your hot video, suddenly you may get an anticlimax, when you are interrupted with "The connection has timed out" message.
And you need to click on the "Try Again" button.
So, if you have the patience and endurance, and do not mind the unpredictable disturbances, then read on...
How To Use Firefox Proxy To Access Blocked Websites
There are TWO (2) steps which you need to do:
STEP ONE: Get Free IP Addresses
There are various sites online which you can get a list of free IP Addresses, together with their Port Number.
You just google 'free ip addresses'.
Anyway, here is one of them, which I have personally use, with much success.
As you can see from the image above, the IP Address is the set of numbers in front and the port number is: 8080
Note: Keep this free IP addresses site on your browser open. Do not close it as yet. You may need it again when you find the "IP address" which you have selected might NOT work.
STEP TWO: Configure Firefox Proxy Settings
1. Go to Mozilla Firefox browser.
2. Click on "Tools" at the menu bar, which is at the top of your computer screen.
3. A menu will drop down.
4. Next click on "Options"
5. It will open a new page.
6. Scroll all the way down the page, until you see "Network Settings".
7. Now, click on the "Settings..." button next to it on the right hand side.
8. A box pops up titled: Connection Settings.
9. Click on the small circle in front of: Manual proxy configuration.
10. Now copy any of the IP Address (set of numbers) from the list as instructed in STEP ONE, and paste it onto the blank box next to HTTP Proxy.
11. For Port box, type: 8080 as shown above.
12. Then click on the square box next to Also use this proxy for FTP and HTTPS.
13. A blue color tick sign will appear inside the square box.
14. Finally click the "OK' button below.
That's all.
Now let's check out whether this IP address is workable.
Type in the blocked website which you want to access.
Does it work?
If it does, congratulation, you lucky devil!
If after a few attempts and it doesn't work, then you need to change a new IP address.
To do that, you need to go back to the "Connection Settings" page again to replace the IP address with a new set of numbers from the IP Addresses website as explained in STEP ONE.
Now, you know why in STEP ONE, I told you to keep the IP Addresses website open.
If the newly replaced IP address still cannot work, then you have to get another new IP address.
As I have I cautioned above, the use of this free proxy can be nerve-racking for some of you.
Anyway, this is how you use Firefox proxy server to unblock those websites which are censored in your country.
Happy viewing.
Note: After using it, remember to change the network settings back to "No proxy". If not, you will not be able to log in to your online accounts.
