To do that, you need to know how to use this useful tool available at Google Search Control.

How To Use Google Structured Data Markup Helper


1. Go to "Structured Data Markup Helper".

2. Click on "Open Structured Data Markup Helper" button.

3. It opens a new page for you to sign into your Google account.

4. Now you are the Structured Data Markup Helper page where you tag your web page or blog post data.

Note: The steps are: Enter Page, Tag Data and then view HTML

5. The first thing is you can see there two items which you can add structured data markup: Website and Email.

6. For this tutorial I'm going to show you how to add structured data markup to your web page or blog post.

7. First you click on the "Website" tab.

8. Next select the type of page which you would like to have structured data markup.

9. If your blog post is just about tutorials or personal rantings, then select "Articles".

10.Then add in your blog post URL in the space provided at: URL.

10. Now click on the blue color "Start Tagging" button.

11. Wait for it to load.

12. Then it opens, you can see your site display on the left side of the page.

13. On the right side of the page, you can see a list of values under the heading "My Data Items".

14. Let's start adding the data, by using your mouse cursor.

15. You highlight parts of the page with important information.

16. After you have highlighted the part of your blog post and then let go of your finger on the mouse, a menu will pop up next to it.

17. Select the option and click on it.

18. Immediately it will appear on the right side of the page and listed accordingly to your choice.

19. Make sure to provide all information required for your specific data type.

Note: For example, for an event you must provide an event name, location, and start date.

20. If you need to add information that is not visible in your page, click here on how to add missing data.

21. If you need to remove a tag that Structured Data Markup Helper generated, click  here on how to remove tags.

22. After you've finished tagging all the appropriate data on the page, click on the red color "CREATE HTML" button to generate the page code.

23. Choose an output format: JSON-LD or Microdata.

24. By default it is set as: JSON-LD (preferred by Google), but you can also choose Microdata.

25. Now you can either choose to copy and paste the code from the output window or click on the "Download" button.

Note: How you use the code depends on the format:

For JSON-LD: Copy and paste the generated code into the body of your existing page.

For Microdata: Replace your page with the generated HTML.

26. That's all.

27. You can test your code, by copying and pasting the generated code into the "Structured Data Testing Tool".


28. When you are the Structured Data Testing Tool site, click on "CODE SNIPPET".

29. Then you paste the code in box provided, and click "TEST RUN" button.

30. This tool will tell you about any missing fields that you must provide to help Google understand the page, and for some data types it can provide a preview of how your page might look like in Google Search Results.

31. Remember it can take a few weeks for Google to find your new page code.

32. If your data is crawled, complete, and correct, it can appear as rich results.
