How To Delete Unused Photos In Blogger Complete Tutorial

 Last Update March 30th, 2017

Many of you Blogger users do not know exactly how to delete unused images or photos.

For WordPress users, they can just use the Image Cleanup plugin to help use to locate and then you can remove them from cluttering up the Media Library.

From what I have read, some said that by cleaning up all the unused plugins, photos can help to improve the page speed loading time.

As they say page speed is one key ranking factors.

In short, it is a boost to search engine optimization (SEO).

How To Know Which Photo To Delete In Picasa Web Albums

For those of you who have uploaded the same photo a few times, probably because you resized it and then you uploaded again.

So now you see a couple of the same photos in the Picasa Web Albums.

You do not know which particular one to delete.

Don't worry.

Let me show you how to locate the correct photo (the one you are currently using on your blog post), so that you do not delete it away.

If you do that, then there will be no photo for that blog post.

The missing photo for that blog post will be replaced by a grey color "no entry" sign image as mentioned in #14 above.

To make sure you delete the correct photos, this is what you do.

Step One:

Look For Photo URL Of The Blog Post

1. Go to your blog post. Right click on the photo.

2. A menu box will pop up.

3. Click on "View Image Info".

4. A box will pop up.

5. Look at the long URL next to Location: as shown below.

6. The key thing you look at the code AFTER http://1.bp.blogspot.com/.

Example:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UeGKwiA-0Ys/VaZ5NDgCJ2I/AAAAAAAAA88/6-HW12o9BfA/s1600/enthusiasm%2Bsayings.jpg

7. The code section highlighted in yellow.

Step Two:

8. Now go Picasa Web Albums.

9. Let's say you have two same images and you want to know which one is the correct one, so that you do not accidentally delete it away.

10. Right click on the first image.

11. A menu box will pop up.

12. Click on "View Image Info".

13. A box will pop up.

14. Look at the URL next to Location:.

15. Similarly as in Step One, now look for the code section AFTER https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/

16. If the long code is the same as the one which you look for in Step One, then that particular photo in the Picasa Web Albums is the CORRECT one.

Example

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UeGKwiA-0Ys/VaZ5NDgCJ2I/AAAAAAAAA9A/DXa8VZW4E-c/s128-Ic42/enthusiasm%252520sayings.jpg

17. The section of the URL code which is highlighted in yellow should match the code found in the blog post as explained in Step One above.

18. So leave this photo alone.

19. Delete away the other same photo in the Picasa Web Albums.

20. To delete the other photo, you do as what I have explained above.

Reminder: Make sure you remove the correct photos from Picasa Web Albums.

I know it can be quite messy, as both URLs are long.

 Note:

The URL of blog post image begins with:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/

The URL of Picasa Web Albums image begins:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/
