Delete Unused Uploaded Images In WordPress With Media Cleaner

|
This is an way how to delete unused uploaded images in WordPress site with Media Cleaner

I am sure you must still have unused uploaded images stored up in the Media Library.

It happens when you added an image into your blog post and then you decide to change, resize or have it removed from the post.

But you you did not delete it permanently from the Media Library.

Over time, these old uploaded unused images accumulated in the Media Library taking up the data space.

There are a few plugins that claim can do the job for you.

Personally I use the Media Cleaner for my WordPress blogs.

After you have installed and activated this tool, you go to your administration page.

Click on Tools, and then click on Image Cleanup.

Firstly you have to indexed all the images.

Click on Index Images button on top of the page.

Then it will list out the number of images under different categories: General, Valid Attachment, Backup Images, Unreferenced Used Images, Unreferenced Unused Images, Obsolete Referenced Images.

This plugin can also find images without meta data and images with incorrect meta data. Take note, images which have valid database metadata but are not used in posts will not be indexed.
