How to Remove LP.Mediacoltd.com Pop-up Malware From Your Computer

Have you come across this adult ad which suddenly appears on your computer screen?

This is the work of  a malicious adware program from  http://mediacoltd.com. It collects computer users private information like IP address and other online traces for unethical usage.  In other words, you must remove this virus from your computer right away. 

Here is a an easy-to-follow guide how to remove lp.mediacoltd.com pop up.

1. Look for unfamiliar program from Computer and uninstall it.

2. For those using Windows 7/Vista, click on the Windows logo to start.

3. Next click  "Control Panel".

4. Select "Programs and Features" and click on it.

5. Carefully check for unfamiliar or recently installed program from the list.

Note: This nasty program comes in different name.

6.  Select it and click "Uninstall".

Note: If you have problem while trying to uninstall the Lp.mediacoltd.com, use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove the unwanted programs from your PC.

7. Go to "Start" again and type C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc in the search box.

8. You will see a file with the word "etc".

9. Click on it.

10. Double click on "hosts" file to open it.

11. Select "Notepad" or any other text editor.

12. Click "OK" button.

13. A box with texts and numbers will appear.

14. It should look similar to the image below if you are using Windows 7 or Vista.

15. Scroll down to the bottom, you should see only one line:

127.0.0.1 localhost ::1

Note: For those using Windows XP, then should see this line:

127.0.0.1 localhost

16. If there are more lines, remove them and save changes.

Firefox User

17. Open Firefox.

18. Click on "Help" and then click on "Troubleshooting".

19. Now click on "Reset Firefox" button.

Note: When you do this, you will lose your Firefox add-ons. You need to restore them back.

20. Firefox will close momentarily, reset and open again.

21. Then a window will list the information that was imported. Click "Finish".

Google Chrome User
22. Completely exit Google Chrome.

23. Open Windows Explorer.

24. Paste the code below into the address bar.

Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\
        Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\

25.  Now look for the folder called "Default" in the directory window.

26. Rename it as "Backup default"

27. Open Google Chrome and it will automatically create a new "Default".

28. Finally you need to clean up the files.
