I am using a Dell Inspiron N4030, and I had problem trying to record audio (songs) directly from YouTube with it.
Then I went to the "Recording devices", I found that at the Rec. Playback, it stated that "IDT High Definition Audio codec is currently unavailable."
In order to record audio directly with your PC, you need to enable this Rec. Playback setting.
This is how you do it:
Firstly, you have to Disable both the Internal Mic and Microphone/ Line In options.
You do it by, right click on it and a box will appear. From there you click "Disable".
You do it for both Internal Mic and Microphone / Line In.
Then go to Enable the Rec. Playback setting. Now, click OK.
Once this is done, you should see a tick sign in a green circle, the words "Default Device" for Rec. Playback.
Now if you play any YouTube video, you can see the volume meter (green color strips jumping up and down) next to Rec. Playback.
That's all.
If you need to use the external microphone, you just go to Enable it by right click on Microphone/ Line In.
Note: For those who don't know how to find the Recording devices, here is a guide.
1. Look for the speaker icon at the bottom right hand corner.
2. Right click on it and a box will pop up. Recording devices is the third one listed there.
