Improve Internet Connection Speed With Google Public DNS

|
This is how I speed up my Internet connection by configuring my network settings to use Google Public DNS.

How To Change DNS Server Settings Of Microsoft Windows 7 To Google Public DNS

1. Click Control Panel.

2. Select Network and Internet, then click on Network and Sharing Center.

3. Click Change adapter settings which is on your left hand side.

4. Now, select the connection which you want to configure Google Public DNS by double clicking on it.

5. A menu box should pop up. Then click on Properties.

6. Another menu box pops up. Select the Networking tab.

7. Now look for your DNS setting. It should be under either Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).

8. Click on it, then click Properties.

9. Another menu box will pop up. The DNS server address is under the General tab.

10. If it is in IPv4, you can see four digits for Preferred DNS server and another four digits for Alternate DNS server.

11. Write them down somewhere for future reference, or if you decide to change them back.

12. Now remove all the eight digits and replace them with IP addresses of the Google DNS servers.

For IPv4:
Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

For IPv6:
Preferred DNS server: 2001:4860:4860::8888
or this: 2001:4860:4860::8844

Leave Alternate DNS Server blank.

13. Click OK.

14. Restart your Internet connection.
