Computer Takes A long Time To Shut Down Or Turn Off?

|
There are various reasons why PC takes so long to shut down or log off. One of the possible causes could be because there are programs running in the background at the same time and is using the memory space.

All these programs need to be turned off, then only your computer can totally shutdown.

This is how you turn off or disable startup programs:

This is what you have to do:

1. Click "Start".

2. Then click "Run".

3. In the blank box, type: msconfig

4. Next  click "OK".

5. A box called "System Configuration" will pop up, and click "Startup" tab, as shown below:

6. Now you can see all a list of "Startup Items".

7. Remove all the checked boxes (it means those boxes with ticks), by clicking on them. In other words, make sure NONE of the small square boxes are ticked. Yes, leave all the boxes empty. But you can leave the antivirus ticked.

8. After you have removed the ticks, click "Apply" and then click "OK".

9. Now another "System Configuration" box will pop up as shown below:

10. It's all up to you. You can select either "Restart" or "Exit without restart".

Well, hopefully by removing programs from startup will solve your slow-shut-down-computer problem.
