Firefox Screen Blown Up After Update Problem : How To Solve It

|

Firefox Screen Blown Up After Update 2013

The other day (June 28, 2013) after my Firefox automatically updated, it screwed up the size of the content in the browser.

When I clicked on websites from the search engine results pages or from my own Bookmarks, now they all appeared larger in size.

So now each time, I visited a blog page or a website, I need to go to View and Zoom Out to the size of my preference.

Among the various tips and suggestions I gathered from Firefox Support Forum, these are the two ways to overcome this new Firefox blown up problem.

Method 1.

Rename the content-prefs.sqlite file to content-prefs.sqlite.old or delete the file to reset the page zoom for all websites.

To look for content-prefs.sqlite file in Window 7, this is what you do:

1. Click Run..

2. Type in %APPDATA% in the space provided.

3.  Then click OK.

4.  A Windows Explorer window will appear.

5. Now select the following files: Mozilla >>Firefox >>Profiles.

6. In the Profiles folder, double click and it will show you two folders. Select the one xxxxxx.default.xxxx.

7. Look for content-prefs.sqlite.

8. Now you can either change the name to content-prefs.sqlite.old or delete it.

9. When you want to rename, it will prompt a warning, "Are you sure you want to change it?".

10. Click Yes.

Method 2:

For this method, you just need to go to View and then Zoom Out to your preferred size to any page you open.

The next time, when you open any of those pages which you have zoomed out to your preferred size, it will appear as what you have set. No more overblown size.

Important: To make sure that this method works every time, there are two things which must be in order in the settings.

i)  Make sure "Always used private browsing mode" is NOT checked. (Look for it at: Tools>>Options>>Privacy>>Used custom settings for history).

ii) Make sure Site Preferences is NOT checked. (Look for it at: Tools>>Options>>Privacy>>Used custom settings for history>>Clear history when Firefox closes>>Settings
