How To Scan Images With HP Deskjet Printer In Windows 7

Here is an easy-to-understand tutorial on how to scan images or pictures with HP Deskjet 2050 All-in-One J510 Series in Windows 7.

Switch on your printer. Lift up the lid and place the picture or image on top of the glass. Put down the lid. There is NO scan button on the printer to press.

There are three (3) methods of scanning pictures with HP Deskjet 2050 with Windows 7.

Method 1: Scan With Windows Live Gallery

1. Click on Windows icon aka "Start" on the bottom left hand corner.

2. Next click on "All Programs".

3.Then click "Windows Live Photo Gallery".

4. Windows Live Photo Gallery box will pop up.

5. Click on "Import" (camera with a blue arrow icon) found at the left hand top corner.

6. Another smaller box pops up called "Import Photos and Videos". Click on the "Import" button located below.

7. Again another box pops up called "New Scan".

8. If you want to check whether it is scanning the right picture, click on "Preview" button. And the image will appear inside the blank box on the right.

9. To start scanning, just click "Scan" button which is next to "Preview" button.

10. It will start scanning indicated by a green color band.

11. Once it has finished scanning, a smaller box should appear.

12. You can label it any name in the blank space, or you can leave it blank. (if you leave it blank, the scanned image will have no image name, just with the latest date as the image name). Then click "Import" button.

13. Another box pops up with the scanned image.

The scan image is now saved in "My Pictures".

 Method 2: Scan With Paint

1. Click on Windows icon aka "Start" on the bottom left hand corner.

2. 2. Next click on "All Programs".

3.Then click "Accessories".

4. Scroll down the list and click on "Paint".

5. The Paint page will appear.

6. At the very top left hand corner, there is an icon together with a reversed triangle. Click on the reversed triangle.

7. A list will drop down. Look for "From Scanner or camera" and click on it.

8. A box will pop up. Now you click on the "Preview" button to view the image, or you can straight click on "Scan" button to start scanning.

9. It will start scanning and once it is finished, you should see the scanned image.

Method 3: Scan With Windows Fax and Scan

1. Click on Windows icon aka "Start" on the bottom left hand corner.

2. Next click on "All Programs"

3. Then click "Windows Fax and Scan".

4. Windows Fax and Scan page appears.

5. Click "New Scan" located in the blue color strip on top.

5. A box called "New Scan" appears.

6. Now you can either click on the "Preview" button to view the image or you can just go straight and click on the "Scan" button and start scanning.

7. Once it has finished scanning, the image will appear in the space below.

8. Click "File" and then "Save As..." in any folder you wish.
