1. Clear browsing data, cache and cookies
This is the most direct and easiest way to do it.
Clear the browsing history.
when you come to blocked article, this is what you do:
For Firefox, click "History", then click "Clear recent History...", and click the "Clear' button.
Then reload the page.
For Chrome, click "History", then click "Delete browsing data". then click the "Delete data" button.
Likewise reload the page, and you should get your another free article.
Keep doing the same steps, and you can keep reading....for free!
2. Private browsing
Again you merely use the built-in browser tool to do it.
After your first free article, to read continue reading all the following content, this is what you need to do:
Right click on the article title, a context menu box appears.
For Firefox browser, you click "Open Link in New Private Window".
For Chrome browser, you click "Open link in incognito window".
And you can view the full unblocked Wired website articles.
Why this private browsing method can get around Wired.com paywall?
Each time when you open an incognito or Private Window, your browser starts a fresh browse session.
It means there is no stored cookies in your browser.
Hence, Wired website can't access its tracking cookies, so it treats you as a brand-new visitor each time when you click a new article.
Thus this allows you to view more articles without hitting the paywall limit.
3. Disable JavaScript
Google Chrome browser:
For Chrome browser, you can disable JavaScript specific ally for Wired website,
Follow these steps:
Open your Google Chrome.
At the upper-right of the Chrome window, click the Chrome menu icon (three dots).
A drop-down menu appears.
Click "Settings".
On the left side of the screen, click "Privacy and security".
On the right side of the screen, click "Site Settings".
On the Site Settings page, scroll to the bottom of the screen, until you come to the "Content" section, click "JavaScript".
It opens a new page.
Under the "Customize behavior" section, click the "Add" button next to "Not allowed to use JavaScript".
A "Add a site" box pops up, add this line inside.
Click the "Add" button.
Go to Wired homepage, you can see all the text, but no images at all.
But you can read all the articles in full with only one main image.
Mozilla Firefox Browser:
Unfortunately you cannot do this method with Firefox.
But instead you can do it this way:
Open your Firefox browser homepage.
Copy the following line and paste it into the Firefox address bar: about:config
Hit the Enter key.
Next click the button: "Accept the Risk and Continue".
Now type this: javascript.enabled in the search box provided.
You should see "javascript.enabled" appears under it.
Double click anywhere within the javascript.enabled box to change the value from "true" to "false".
Now go to the blocked The Athletic article, to reload the page.
The full article should be unblocked right away.
REMINDER: Remember to activate the JavaScript function back after used. If not, some websites properly, others may not work at all.
4. 12 Feet Ladder
Here are two ways to read the Wired paywalled webpages with this free online tool.
First Method:
Go to 12feet Ladder page, paste the article URL onto space provided, then click "Clean Webpage".
Second Method:
Add 12ft.io/ in front of the article URL.
Example: 12ft.io/hhttps://www.wired.com/story/ballerina-deserves-an-oscar-nod-for-stunts-but-itll-never-get-one/

5. Hover Paywall extension
Hover is a browser extension comes with two functions "Bypass Paywalls" and "Block Ads".
Install the the extension to your browser, and just enabled the "Bypass Paywalls" settings.
Now you can continue unlimited access to all its web articles, without encountering the paywall.

6. Archive.Today
This is another simple way to get through Wired.com site paywall.
Use the free archiving site Archive.today.

7. Bypass Paywall Clean extension
For this method, you install the free Bypass Paywalls clean extension by magnolia1234.
This is one of the most effective paywall remover, not just Wired.com, but many more websites.

8. Firefox Temporary containers extension
This is for Mozilla Firefox browser only.
This is what you do:
First install the Firefox Temporary Container extension.
Right click any article title that you want to read.
A menu box pops up next to the article title.
Place your mouse cursor over "Open link in new Temporary Container tab".
9. Textise
Use the text-only tool Textise to get behind Wired website paywall.
Then you can read the full article in plain text, but without picture and links.

10. Ctrl + S shortcut key
This tip is by pressing both "Ctrl" and "S" keys.
A box pops up, save the article, and you can read the full unblocked article.
Using this shortcut key, you can read Wired.com articles from culture to business, science to design.

11. JavaScript bookmarklet
Save this bookmarklet to your toolbar.
This is the set of code:
When at the locked article, click the bookmarklet.
Immediately the complete article appears without any subscription prompt.

12. Brave browser with block scripts
You can also use the Brave browser to remove Wired website paywall.
All you do is to enable the "Block scripts" settings in "Shields".
Basically it is disabling JavaScript.
You can either click the Brave icon at the toolbar, or go to the Brave settings, to turn on the "Block scripts".

These are the methods which people use to bypass Wired website paywall.
