How To Fix Google Home Page URL That Ends With gws_rd=ssl

|
Is your Google browser home page URL having gws_rd=ssl or some other longer code after https://www.google.com?

In other words, instead of just http://www.google.com, you see this: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl at the address bar.

Here is how to fix this problem.

You need to make changes in two (2) areas.

FIRST: Change Home Page URL

1. Click on Tools.

2. Then click on Options.

3. Now a box pops up.

4. At the box next to Home Page, type https://www.google.com.my (for those in Malaysia) or https://www.google.co.uk (for those in United Kingdom).

5. Click on the OK button below.

SECOND: Change Application Setting

1. Type about:config in the address bar.

2. Now type browser.newtab.url in the space next to Search:

3. Right click on it, then click Modify.

4. A box pops up.

5. Type in this: https://www.google.com.my/ (for those in Malaysia) or https://www.google.co.uk/ (for those in UK).

That's all.

Note: There is an "s" after http for both areas. It should be  https://
