This is how to get past Herald Sun paywall, so you can read this Australian tabloid newspaper website digital articles without an account.
This is a post from the series called DiGiztal Bypass Paywalls Tips.
All the usual bypass paywall methods could not access Herald Sun blocked articles.
Forget about even Bypass Paywalls Clean extension by Magnolia, 12feet ladder, open link in Incognito window, or spoofing user-agent as Googlebot trick.
So are the outdated tips like, using Obin.net, anti-paywall extension, or changing the hostname in the URL from “heraldsun.com.au” to “news.com.au.
Unfortunately Google still indexed and ranked all these sites for the search query "how to bypass Herald sun paywall".
Strangely, the Google Update is supposed to reduce the unhelpful content, to ensure the most helpful information on the web.
No wonder people are complaining Google search isn't helpful anymore.
I believe this is the latest (2024) and the only online article about bypassing Herald Sun paywall.
After tinkering around, I managed to read all its articles and news reports for free, without signing up subscription.
Read Herald Sun articles for free
- Archive.Today
- Textise
Just a quick try-out, I found these two methods, you can access heraldsun.com.au blocked articles.
1. Archive.Today
If I am not wrong, I think not every latest articles could get through this web archiving method.
I have come across archived articles which are not complete, when I compared them with my second method.
But you can still able to read most of the Herald Sun articles for free with Archive.Today.
Install the Archive.Today Chrome extension.
Then pin it at the toolbar, and then go to Herald Sun homepage.
Go to the article that you want to read, right click on its title.
A menu pops up, click "Search Link".
If that particular article has been archived, you can see it right there.
Click on it, and the archived webpage.
If you think the archived webpage of that article is not completely archived, then try the second method.
2. Textise
This method does not use the usual procedure, where you just past the article URL into the box and click the "Textise" button.
The problem is the Herald Sun article URL.
For example, the article, "Rapper Diddy arrested in new sex trafficking investigation".
If you click straight from the title, you would see the page that appears like this:
Its URL is this:
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=HSWEB_WRE170_a&dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.heraldsun.com.au%2Fentertainment%2Fcelebrity-life%2Frapper-sean-diddy-combs-arrested-in-sex-trafficking-investigation%2Fnews-story%2F4544d70f4341395c453af1466e6ed266&memtype=anonymous&mode=premium&v21=GROUPA-Segment-1-NOSCORE
With this URL you could not bypass its paywall.
You need to use this webpage URL:
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/rapper-sean-diddy-combs-arrested-in-sex-trafficking-investigation/news-story/4544d70f4341395c453af1466e6ed266?amp&nk=7e7b388b222fd85e2470823f91ac1b64-1726542642
This is what you do:
As usual you archive this article with Archive.Today, as what i have shown above.
Right click on the article title, a context menu pops up, click "Search Link".
At the Archive.Today page, click on the title or the page image.
You can see the archived article, but it is not complete.
Now copy the article URL at: "Saved from".
This URL is different from the above, as you can see:
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/rapper-sean-diddy-combs-arrested-in-sex-trafficking-investigation/news-story/4544d70f4341395c453af1466e6ed266?amp&nk=7e7b388b222fd85e2470823f91ac1b64-1726542642
Paste it into the space provided in Textise site, and click the "Textise" button.
Now you can read the full article, but without images and this is the link.
These are two ways how to remove Herald Sun paywall to read all its online content from its website.
