This is how to read articles behind paywall website of this Australian tabloid newspaper website digital articles without an account.
In other words, how to read Herald Sun for free online.
This is another post from the DiGiztal Bypass Paywalls Tips series.
All the usual methods how to read its paid articles for free do not work anymore.
Forget about even Bypass Paywalls Clean extension by Magnolia, 12feet ladder, open link in Incognito window, or spoofing user-agent as Googlebot trick.
So are the outdated tips like, using Obin.net, anti-paywall extension, or changing the hostname in the URL from “heraldsun.com.au” to “news.com.au.
Unfortunately Google still indexed and ranked all these sites for the search query "how to bypass Herald sun paywall".
Strangely, the Google Update is supposed to reduce the unhelpful content, to ensure the most helpful information on the web.
No wonder people are complaining Google search isn't helpful anymore.
I believe this is the latest (2025) and the only online article about bypassing Herald Sun paywall.
After tinkering around, I managed to read all its articles and news reports for free, without signing up subscription.
Read Herald Sun articles for free
- Archive.Today
Just a quick try-out, I found this method can access heraldsun.com.au blocked articles.
Archive.Today
If I am not wrong, you can still able to read most of the Herald Sun articles for free with Archive.Today with Chrome or Firefox.
Install the Archive.Today Chrome extension.
Then pin it at the toolbar, and then go to Herald Sun homepage.
Go to the article that you want to read, click on its title.
You would come across its paywall page, asking you to subscribe to unlock the article.
Now click Archive.Today extension icon on your toolbar.
Id that particular article has been archived, the full article would appear right away.
For example this article, "Trump to call Putin, invites Zelensky back to White House".
It has already archived, so the article pops up right away, at: https://archive.ph/1c4jH#selection-783.0-783.57.
If not, then you have to archive it first.
At times, you might have problem archiving it, you get this remarks, Not Found (yet?).
Then you have to re-archive it again.
Here is another article titled "Stephen Dank: Essendon supplement scandal figure still wanted in fraud, forgery case but police yet to execute warrant" that I have just re-archived.
So far I have managed to get past Herald Sun paywall with the web arching tool Archive.Today.
