How to Disable/Turn Off Touchpad On Dell Laptop Window 7

|
For those of you who prefer using an external mouse with your Dell laptop (or with any laptop), you have this frustrating experience where the cursor keeps jumping all over the place.

It is because when you type fast, both your thumbs tend to accidentally brush against the touchpad, thus causing erratic cursor movement.

As a result, you need to retype every now and then. Aaarrgghhh!!

To overcome this irritating problem, you need to turn off or disable the touchpad.

How To Turn Off Or Disable Touchpad

Method 1

1. Click Start.

2. Next click Control Panel. Under "Hardware and Sound". Select "Adjust commonly used mobility settings".

3. Now click on the icon of "Adjust Touchpad".

4. Click on "Device Select Button Settings" icon found in Dell Touchpad box.

5. Select "Disable" for both "Touchpad" and "Touchpad Buttons".

6. Click "Apply" and then click "OK".

That's all. No more crazy cursor movement on your laptop anymore.

Method 2

You can also locate the Dell laptop Touchpad setting this way:

1. Go to Start >> Computer >> OS (C:)

2. Next double click on "Program Files".

3. Double click "DellTPad"

4. Double click "DellTPad.exe"

5. Now you will see the box "Dell Touchpad", as mentioned in step 4 above (Method 1).

Then just do as exactly as step 5 and 6 in Method 1.

Update:  If your Dell disable/enable Touchpad key (the one beside F12) is NOT working, then read this tutorial.
